Here’s a few shots of the patina in progress, on the softie frame.  We first cleaned the frame and steel components with brake cleaner, followed by a copper-infused pickler.  This almost instantly turns the steel a copper color, and then in about 20 minutes starts to get green and pretty funky. 

After it’s gotten weird enough, we neutralized it with a rinse of baking soda in water, and then rinsed the whole thing again.   The end result looks like a rusted copper… green and a little orange.  Pretty weird, and not sure how much I like it.  We may go back and rust it a little further to make the contrast with the aluminum more intense.

Here’s a shot I took of my seat hinge.  Not really relevant, but I think it’s a cool shot, so blow me.
