Pure Hell

I know this is supposed to be about bikes but I had to share something that has given me a hardon for years. This thing just screams fuck you and is such a big part of gasser history. Mean, mean, mean. A little history with y’all.

Yes that is a motorcyle gas tank on the front of this bad boy!!!

Rich Guasco’s Pure Hell

Pure Hell, originally powered by a small block Chevy, was the first Fuel Altered to over 180 M.P.H. and under 8.50 seconds.  It held M.P.H. and E.T. records at one time or another at every strip it has ever run, with the exception of Orange County.  At Orange County, Pure Hell held the M.P.H. record.  At the 1968 Winternationals, after switching to a Chrysler Hemi engine, Pure Hell set the M.P.H. record at 207.  The car’s best M.P.H. was 214 and the best E.T. was 7.27 during match-race competition.

Cool OCC bike

Bet you would never see that shit on this blog huh. And to be fair it’s not really an OCC bike, it’s actually a bike one of the members of OCC had someone else restore.

The other night I was rooting through sites looking for various parts for some builds that are in disarray, thats another story. So there is this shop that specializes in CB750 parts and have a lot of cool vintage stuff. As I was traipsing through the site I came across this little bitch.

This was an old Jammer Chop they restored for him. He may be a douche bag but he has good taste. Nicely done Cycle X.

How I Spent My Tuesday.

Last night, my buddy Terry brings in this 2001 sporty. Nice looking bike, great condition. So I bought it, for a very, very reasonable sum. I figured I’d give it a light chop – some handle bars, get rid of the chrome – nothing radical. So I came in early this morning…
oops.

Now, you may be wondering, “Dave, why not use a lift?” To which I would say, “good question, sir.”

You may also ask yourself, “Why not disconnect the wiring harness, instead of leaving the whole thing intact?” To which I would respond, “Excellent query. Well done, well done.”

The good news is I have already listed about 20 of the parts on ebay.

The bad news is I probably have another 30 to list.

But I’ll tell you this, I am going to use the engine, electrical system, front end, wheels, tires and brakes. So that’s a pretty straight forward conversion, right? Well, maybe not the brakes. And I might use a 34mm front end. And I have this killer skinny ass 21″ spoke wheel… But other than that… fuck me.

Finch IronHead Frame

Scored this little bastard over the weekend at the swap meet. I believe it to be a Ron Finch Iron Head frame. I’m going to take it up to the man later in the week and see if he recognizes it. He has done so much incredible stuff over the years he may not… I think the asymmetrical striping gives it away, and also the totally bizarre body work. One way or another, It’s either going to hang on the wall, or get re-born.

Swap Meet Scores…

They were few and far between. Got a 5 speed Jim’s trans for $300, which was cool. Scored an amazing 60’s iron head frame that looks like something Ness would have built for a C-note… more on that tomorrow. The last score was this late 70’s / early 80’s sporty primary cover. Not sure exactly what make or model, but the guys over at JJ seem to think it’s either a CL or an XLX. Needless to say, it rules, and hard.
